Make Time for Them

You have a lot on your plate. You are busy and attempt to focus on the things that keep your family afloat. I see you. You are exhausted but yet try to stay awake long enough to make the family dinner and make sure homework is done and bodies are clean. I feel that. You spend endless amounts of time either going to work or working from home or working on your home. Life in general can just be a lot. I get that.

You may be the mama who spends 60 + hours a week in your home with your children making sure they stay alive and have full tummies, naps + baths. You may be the mama who has to get up at 5 am to have your “mom time” and workout or read or simply have a cup of coffee. The mama who has to get an entire household together to the mama who gets to be at home watching the kiddos all day have one thing in common, the love for your kids is immeasurable.

This is why we must make time for them. Life can get busy, it can get hard and exhausting. Life can be a whirlwind of emotions and can be truly a blink of an eye. Children are the window to health. They are the window to a better life. They need to release energy and more importantly they need us to be there to watch them. Now I know what you’re thinking, every time my kid tells me “mom watch this” I could probably pull my hair out if I hear it again. LOL But the truth is, you watching, is so important. The TIME you take to actually visually connect with them and what they are doing helps them expand their minds and helps them to be the best version of themselves.

We spend out time being adults because it is our obligation to do so. We work to make money, we cook so our families can eat. We set rules and standards for our household and we carry our families everyday. Being a mom is not an easy task and anyone who is a mom knows that. You don’t have to hear it from me.

Kids are needy. We must make time for them. Their minds are wanderers yearning for knowledge and stimulation. If parenting was easy, everyone would do it. Time is precious and I am sure you’ve heard that before. Our children need us to put the TIME into them. Give them our patience and attempt to understand them and their minds.

Make time for them, for they are not going to be this small forever. Bike rides, family walks, movie nights, park days where you swing for hours. Carrying them up to bed and reading them a bed time story before tucking them in tightly at night. Allowing them to wake up and make breakfast with you ( I mean really make breakfast) or at least help prepare. Their sweet little minds that just want you, will not last forever. With growth comes change and when they grow out of the dependence of you, they will no longer need this time everyday.

Kids are tired too, make time for them. Even on the hardest days, that’s when they need it the most. When you are tired and need a break, shift it to getting free cuddles or spending quality time together. They need that from you more than you’ll ever know. That time will be irreplaceable because time spent is better than any gift you could ever give.

We are all busy, we all have obligations and responsibilities. When we shift our priorities to the people in our life rather than the materials in our life we become much more content with our world. When we make time even on the busiest of days, we put safety and importance in our kids minds. They understand that we are busy but see that love is shown when we make the time to be with the ones we care about. Its values we can consistently instill in our kids and it’s truly amazing what happens when we can work really hard or have a crazy day and still show our kids that their TIME is the most important thing.

So mamas, make time for them. You are their safe place and their entire world until they grow into independence. That time is irreplaceable.
